TASK

Write proposal for apiary development project to create two community tree nurseries, production of 20000 bee loving trees to develop six modern apiaries in six communities to increase honey production/honey bi-products to enhance livelihoods and mitigate climate change. These shall include the support of 50 hives and bee keeping equipment in each community. 619 people are direct beneficiaries 309 men, 310 women (with 170000 inhabitants as indirect beneficiaries with majority of them women).

Volunteers will work from May,June and July 2012. We shall supply them all information needed to accomplish the tasks. They can work as a team as well as individually. Volunteers will either be English or French speakers. Communication will be through email and sometimes on phone.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

The goal of MIFACIG is to alleviate poverty through the sustainable management of natural resources in rural area. This involves training people to produce valuable planting material and increase food production while encouraging environmental protection. The mission of MIFACIG is "sharing trees and plants that serve life" Thus, establishing community apiaries with bee loving trees would provide honey and incomes for the people and also help to mitigate climate change

OBJECTIVE

To enhance sustainable livelihood through the and production, consumption and marketing of honey. These would also mitigate climate change.
