The World Wide Fund for Nature Seeks one (1) Income Generating Activities officer – IGAOwho will provide technical support to key stakeholders for income generating activities in Ngoyla-Mintom area (Cameroon).Location: Ngoyla, CameroonMain responsibilities: • Provide technical assistance to local populations and councils in the development of appropriate income generating activities and alternative/complementary protein source (ex: NTPFs, sustainable fisheries, livestock production, agroforestry, agriculture…); • Help small scale local producers to identify and develop markets links for their products • Providing support in acquiring and managing community forest and hunting zones; • Facilitate local stakeholders (communities…) involvement and commitment in direct conservation activities and land use planning process trough information; sensitization, capacity building, organisational support and equitable benefit sharing; • Provide technical assistance to local populations and councils in sustainable management of wildlife, mining and forest royalties; • Work with logging and mining concessions to vulgarize best practices; • Provide input in the develop and promotion of a local equitable benefit sharing mechanism for proceeds from the management of income from REDD, logging and Mining and other forest related royalties; • Collect relevant data for socio-economic monitoring and scientific studies; • Technically assist the implementation of conservation activities within the CBOs groups (CPF, CIG …); • Assist REDD Advisor in the implementation of other REDD related activities • Work closely with Communication officer to generate success stories emanating from landscape (big Wins); • Ensure timely development and implementation of work plans and budgets; • Under the supervision of the collaborative and livelihood advisor, ensure the project’s compliance with technical and financial reporting and monitoring/evaluation requirements.What you need:Required Functional Skills: • Bachelor degree or GCE Advanced level +2 years in agricultural sciences, agricultural Economics, Economics, Economics of natural resources or relevant domains with an exposure to conservation and natural resources management issues • At least 3 years professional experience in relevant field • Experience in NTFPs sector, community forestry, other income generating activities in rural area and rural development • Good knowledge of government policy and projects in agriculture, handicraft and small and medium size enterprise • Excellent communication skills and Computer-literacy; • Fluency in written and spoken French and working knowledge of English; • Experience in working with local communities in the forest region of Cameroon is an added value; • Working experience with indigenous people is an asset.Required Behavioural Skills: • Excellent communication skills, ability to work effectively with a wide variety of partners and disciplines;
• Skilled in negotiation with communities, private sector, liaison, and in relationship and conflict management; • Strong skills in project planning, management, implementation, and evaluation, and experience working with donors; • Strong vocational interest in nature conservation and Willingness and ability to work in a remote area; • Excellent inter-personal skills, with the ability to network and to develop and maintain strong relationships at all levels, both internally and with local communities, government agencies, NGOs, private sector, the scientific community, the business community, and the WWF Network; • Strong organisational and analytical skills, adaptable, flexible, able to take initiative and prioritize among competing demands; • Adheres to WWF’s values, which are: Passionate & Optimistic, Challenging & Inspiring, Credible & Accountable, Persevering & Delivering Results.How to apply?
