Business Controller MR - Central Africa

Job description:

We offer an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated Business Controller to be part of our continuous geographical expansion and development of the construction & mining business in Central Africa. The Business Controller will play a key role in the initial organizational setting up of the company and therefore possess strong admin capability. The position reports to the Country Manager.

- Build strong working relationships with internal and external customers;
- Ensure that financial reporting and accounting matters are in accordance with Atlas Copco’s
- The Way…” IFRS and GAAP as required;
- Raise “red flags” to management whenever compliance with sound business principles is at risk;
- Actively participate in branch’s activities which include strategic planning, people management, and business development;
- Enhance the Atlas Copco attitude within your team and workplace and continuously develop the personnel under your responsibility;
- Work actively with ASAP in developing and implementing standard group processes and systems;
- Through accurate, relevant and timely business & financial analysis, support general management in making effective business decisions;
- Develop, refine and support administrative and operational policies and procedures for the company;
- Promote due diligence in processes and tasks through focus on quality, accuracy, deadlines and orderly work;
- To participate in various projects and internal audits within the Group;
- To make sure that appropriate risk awareness and internal control procedures are in place and that external and internal auditors get necessary support;
- Train and support the organization in financial understanding
- Travel is required between the neighboring countries as part of the regional responsibility as well as Product Company visits abroad.

Mission:

The successful candidate will play a key role in the control and guidance of our company’s financial results, including forecasting, analysis, and providing support to the Country Manager and other departments. The Business Controller will be part of the management team. Areas of responsibility summarized as:
- Accounting to Reporting
- Internal Control
- Cash Management
- Asset Management
- Planning and Analysis
- Business Governance
- General Administration & Regional Development.

Experience requirements:

- Minimum of three years in business controlling/financial management;
- Proven performance in managing and working in teams effectively;
- Prior experience in a customer centre environment a plus.

Knowledge:

Hands-on working knowledge of an accounting software and IFRS reporting standards.

Educational requirements:

- A minimum of a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration (Accounting option).
- Must be a certified accountant with a professional qualification in ACCA, CIMA etc

Personality requirements:

- Highly business oriented;
- Strong analytical skills with good problem solving abilities;
- Good interpersonal and communication skills;
- Willing to travel extensively within the region on a regular basis;
- Experience and ability to work independently in a multi-cultured environment;
- Open to change and proactive.

Country and city description:

The position is based in Douala, the commercial hub of Cameroun; Douala offers an extensive social life and it is home to a large expatriate community.

Company presentation:

Atlas Copco CMT Central Africa will be a new branch office- with potential to soon become a Customer Center- that is foreseen to start operations in early 2012. Its geographical responsibility will include Gabon, Cameroun, Chad, Central African Republic, Eq. Guinea and Congo Brazzaville.
Atlas Copco Ghana will have the admin responsibility of this new Customer Center.
