Exploration Manager

Location: AfricaFIFO RoleLarge Iron Ore Project

Our Client is looking for an Exploration Manager to join their team. Reporting to the General Manager- Geology you will be responsible for managing all exploration site activities. Additionally, you will be responsible for regular communication with the Perth, and other international offices as well as direct interaction with the relevant site and country managers in Country.

Qualifications & Experience

Geology degree and at least 10 years mineral exploration experience, including iron ore projects.Experience with ASX-listed Junior to mid-sized Company conditions and associated challenges.Significant experience with managing large Exploration Field Teams in remote and challenging environments.Extensive experience with drilling and exploration planning and budgeting requirements.Competency with Mining software and orebody modeling proceduresExperience with Exploration or Mining projects in Africa and good understanding of African Mines Ministry requirements and associated interactions.

Key Skills & Attributes

Strong project and people management skills to ensure efficiencies from a harmonious team work environment on remote sites.Familiar with modern HSE standards and Emergency preparedness as applicable to remote locations.High standards of reporting output to clearly communicate Exploration progress, activity summaries and issuesAbility to speak some French preferred.

Key Performance Indicators

Maintaining tenure validity and all associated reporting compliance and expenditure requirements to ensure the Project has a solid foundation and that Mineral Resources are as secure as possibleMeeting budget on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis to ensure confidence in financial planning and management of associated departmental costs.Management of Drilling Contractors and reconciliation of Monthly Exploration costs on a cost/m basisPlanning for all annual exploration activities preparing the workforce, engaging geological and/or geophysical contracts and shipping in advance all anticipated equipment and consumables to avoid unnecessary reactive procurement and equipment hire.
