Reproductive Health Regional Clinical Advisor

PSI seeks a fulltime Reproductive Health Regional Clinical Advisor Consultant to improve PSI's quality assurance systems and the quality of care provided by PSI's network/franchise clinics involved with the Women's Health Project (WHP) in the West and Central Africa region. The Women's Health Project is implemented in 15 countries around the globe with the objective of increasing family planning use with a focus on long term methods (specifically IUDs) and post abortion care (PAC). The aim of this consultancy is to improve and ensure the quality of care provided by PSI's network providers in the areas of service delivery of long term methods of contraception (with a focus on IUDs) and post abortion care services. Additionally, the Consultant will play a pivotal role in increasing PSI's representation at country, regional and global forums on reproductive health and advocate for increased use of IUDs and misoprostol for PAC.

This is a 2 year consultancy, with the possibility of extension, contingent on funding. The consultancy will be based in Yaound?, Cameroon and will report to the PSI/Cameroon Country Representative, with a secondary reporting line to PSI's Deputy Director, Services and the Deputy Regional Director for West and Central Africa. Approximately 30% travel will be required.

SCOPE OF WORK will include but are not limited to:

Review and further develop clinical quality assurance systems, in PSI's designated platforms in the West and Central Africa region, with a focus on IUDs, implants and PAC
Develop and implement a global monitoring system with the aim of improving the quality of care in the network clinics, as well as ensure that minimum standards of care are met by network providers in assigned countries.
Provide technical assistance to assigned WHP countries on quality assurance, by conducting regular quality assurance audits and providing training on quality assurance and PSI's global quality improvement system
Develop improved clinical guidelines and quality assurance and improvement systems for PSI's network providers to provide safe PAC services with misoprostol, as is legally permitted in a given country
Provide training to PSI clinical staff on: post partum IUD insertion, implant insertion, and the use of misoprostol for PAC
Represent PSI at country, regional and global reproductive health conferences and regional technical advisory/advocacy groups
Develop presentations and advocacy materials for countries to advocate to government and Ministry of Health officials for increased use of IUDs, and acceptance and use of misoprostol/MA for PAC and safe abortion.
