Scope of Work - Grants and Business Development Intern

Learning Objective
To gain experience in 

a) researching and acquiring new business for an International NGO, andb) in the administration of a small grants program.

Overall Responsibilities

Under the direct supervision of the Programme Manager, Grants and Business Development, the Grants and Business Development Intern shall play a support role in both the acquisition of new business at RATN and the management of RATN’s grant-giving programs.

Support RATN resource mobilization efforts by monitoring industry trends and developments that affect RATN’s strategic activities and conducting research on organizations that have the potential to provide financial or in-kind support to RATN;Populate and maintain database of fundraising targets;Provide administrative support for the development of fundraising proposals;Ensure that comprehensive documentation is maintained and filed for each of RATN’s grant projects;Other duties and special projects as assigned by the Supervisor.Diploma in Business Administration, Commerce, Marketing or its equivalent (candidates currently pursuing a degree will also be considered);Excellent research, data analysis/synthesis. TASK

Write proposal for a project to introduce intensive horticulture crop production to Primary and Secondary schools of Boyo Division. This will be done through the provision of the necessary factors of production that are not locally available or out of the means of the schools. The project will thus have the following components:
Seeds and equipment for:
i)Horticulture crops (vegetables and fruits)
ii)Agro-forestry trees
Volunteer will develop a proposal and identify donor for it.

Volunteers will work from May,June and July 2012. We shall supply them all information needed to accomplish the tasks. They can work as a team as well as individually. Volunteers will either be English or French speakers. Communication will be through email and sometimes on phone.

OBJECTIVE

To encourage and enhance the production and marketing of garden crops as an income generating measure in seven primary schools and five secondary schools in Boyo Division through participatory demonstration, training and the provision of basic equipment and seed material. These would also create a sustainable future impact on the youths as regards farming and environmental protection .

Volunteers will deploy from home, live in Foundation-approved housing, and will work at the Foundation. Volunteers will conduct side-by-side teaching and training, as well as didactic education of the medical doctors and nursing staff.

Future Scale-Up:

Project HOPE will also be looking to develop a technical health assessment team to survey the Foundation to assist in the development of long-term programmatic goals and metrics to develop three key areas in order to refine the Foundation's identity in country: 1) hospital administration, 2) OB-GYN, and 3) emergency room operations. The output of this assessment will help determine future long-term training to improve the Foundation's capacity as well as set a model that is replicable across the country. Funding:

Volunteers will be responsible for their roundtrip airfare to Yaoundé and their visa. At least 2 years experience at the same level in a small to medium size firm
