ABOUT THE PARTNER ORGANIZATION
For the 2012-2015 strategy, Cuso's local programming partner VSO Cameroon has identified that targeting rural women would be the most strategic means of addressing poverty issues in the long term and enabling communities to support particularly vulnerable groups themselves. Since the new strategy and ways of working are still in formation, the role will include working as part of a team to identify how the outcomes can most effectively be achieved, developing new partnerships and taking forwards new areas of work.

THE VOLUNTEER'S ROLE
Overall placement purpose and specific volunteer placement objectives:

Community health advisors will work with communities and health care providers to improve health outcomes for women, specifically focusing on maternal and infant health. Their role will include carrying out research into the key issues affecting maternal health care; identifying and implementing strategies to address specific health problems; supporting and promoting education and awareness-raising. They will work with healthcare institutions to assess current available clinical services and identifying areas where practice can be improved. They will support the development of research and the use of data in health care provision in the area.

• Empower women to take informed control of their own health and demand increase access to better quality maternal health provision

• Support inclusion of women in social auditing of health care • Support and train existing community health relay agents • Support community health providers to mainstream HIV awareness

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Essential requirements

• Medical, nursing or relevant public health degree level qualification (MBChB, MBBS, BSc, MPh)

• Clinical experience working within maternal health services or experience working within a

clinically focused public health role.

Desirable

• Teaching, training and/or counseling experience • Knowledge of family planning and reproductive health (and preferably clinical experience)

Baker Drilling Fluids is looking for an experienced Drilling Fluids Engineer to join the operations in Cameroon.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES
Maintains fluid properties on rig sites by testing fluid properties accurately. Maintains inventory at customer well sites. Must provide effective customer service by providing rig-site customers and coordinators information regarding the progress of a rig site and create/implement solutions to rig site problems. May make sales calls on the field and field office level or accompany Sales Representative performing the same function. Provide ongoing support to assist operations in providing our customers the most effective, environmentally safe drilling fluids available while optimizing the well-bore construction process and maximizing our customers' production. Performs other related duties as required. Conducts all business activities in accordance with Baker Hughes HSE policies, Legal Compliance requirements and Baker Hughes Core Values. Expert product line knowledge in addition to meeting competency requirements as outlined in LEARNLINK. Ability to alternate methods of completing tasks if the set method is not viable.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
HS Diploma, or equivalent. Two year Technical Degree preferred. Industry experience and product line training required. Quickly adjusts to changing job assignments/requirements. Communicate with various clients and must have good customer service skills. Able to work without direct supervision. Pro-active input on current set up and how to improve same.

Background

Under the guidance and direct supervision of the Senior Economist, and general guidance of the Deputy Resident Representative, the Economic Programme Specialist analyses the political and socio-economic landscape/trends and provides policy advisory services for enhancing the strategic orientation of UNDP’s work in Cameroon.  S/he works with Government counterparts to identify alternative macroeconomic policy options to enhance the policy impact of UNDP/UN projects and programmes. The Specialist advocates for and represents UNDP in his/her area of expertise as requested by his/her supervisor. The Specialist maintains a network with colleagues from UNDP, UN Agencies, IFIs, Government officials, multi-lateral and bi-lateral donors and civil society.

S/he will be responsible for the management of UNDP programme in the thematic/sectoral area of inclusive economic development. The incumbent provides oversight and quality assurance to programme team and ensures a results based management approach to programme portfolio rollout.  The Specialist works in close collaboration with the operations team, programme staff in other UN Agencies, UNDP HQs staff and Government officials, technical advisors and experts, multi-lateral and bi-lateral donors and civil society ensuring successful UNDP programme implementation.

Duties and Responsibilities

Ensures provision of top quality advisory services and facilitation of knowledge building and management focusing on achievement of the following results: Assessment of the country’s macro-economic policies and their impact on poverty reduction, inclusive and resilient growth, and the preparation of top quality analysis and reports.Provision of policy options, particularly from pro-poor perspectives, on macroeconomic and development.Support to development of policies and institutions that will address the country problems and needs in collaboration with the Government and other strategic partners.Sound contributions to knowledge networks and communities of practice through identification of best practices and lessons learned.Training and capacity building support for UNDP staff and Government officials, public institutions on economic issues.

Ensures strategic orientation and direction of programme focusing on the achievement of the following results:

Provision of top quality analysis and substantive inputs to CCA, UNDAF, CPD, CPAP and other strategic documents.Identification of areas for UNDP support and adjustment of on-going programmes to ensure that UNDP programmes are in line with national policies and priorities.Contribution to sub-regional, regional and inter-agency initiatives related to development/economic issues.Representation of UNDP in different working groups, including PRSP and MDGs.

Ensures effective management of the CO programme within the assigned thematic/sectoral areas focusing on quality control from formulation to implementation and monitoring of the country programme achieving the following results:

Effective application of RBM tools, establishment of management targets (BSC) and monitoring achievement of results.Design and formulation of CO programme within the area of responsibility, translating UNDP’s priorities into local interventions.Application of RMB and oversight of the programme implementation cycle. Introduction of performance indicators/ success criteria, cost recovery targets and milestones.Financial and substantive monitoring and evaluation of the projects, identification of operational and financial problems, development of solutions. Participation in audit of NEX projects.Preparation of reports and follow up on audit recommendations.

Ensures creation of strategic partnerships and implementation of the resource mobilization strategy in cooperation with the Management Support and Business Development Team   focusing on achievement of the following results:

Development of partnerships with the UN Agencies, IFI’s, government institutions, bi-lateral and multi-lateral donors, private sector, civil society in the specific thematic areas based on strategic goals of UNDP, country needs and donors’ priorities.Analysis and research of information on donors, preparation of substantive briefs on possible areas of cooperation, identification of opportunities for initiation of new projects, active contribution to the overall office effort in resource mobilization.

Background

Under the guidance and direct supervision of the Senior Economist, and general guidance of the Deputy Resident Representative, the Economic Programme Specialist analyses the political and socio-economic landscape/trends and provides policy advisory services for enhancing the strategic orientation of UNDP’s work in Cameroon.  S/he works with Government counterparts to identify alternative macroeconomic policy options to enhance the policy impact of UNDP/UN projects and programmes. The Specialist advocates for and represents UNDP in his/her area of expertise as requested by his/her supervisor. The Specialist maintains a network with colleagues from UNDP, UN Agencies, IFIs, Government officials, multi-lateral and bi-lateral donors and civil society.

S/he will be responsible for the management of UNDP programme in the thematic/sectoral area of inclusive economic development. The incumbent provides oversight and quality assurance to programme team and ensures a results based management approach to programme portfolio rollout.  The Specialist works in close collaboration with the operations team, programme staff in other UN Agencies, UNDP HQs staff and Government officials, technical advisors and experts, multi-lateral and bi-lateral donors and civil society ensuring successful UNDP programme implementation.

Duties and Responsibilities

Ensures provision of top quality advisory services and facilitation of knowledge building and management focusing on achievement of the following results: Assessment of the country’s macro-economic policies and their impact on poverty reduction, inclusive and resilient growth, and the preparation of top quality analysis and reports.Provision of policy options, particularly from pro-poor perspectives, on macroeconomic and development.Support to development of policies and institutions that will address the country problems and needs in collaboration with the Government and other strategic partners.Sound contributions to knowledge networks and communities of practice through identification of best practices and lessons learned.Training and capacity building support for UNDP staff and Government officials, public institutions on economic issues.

Ensures strategic orientation and direction of programme focusing on the achievement of the following results:

Provision of top quality analysis and substantive inputs to CCA, UNDAF, CPD, CPAP and other strategic documents.Identification of areas for UNDP support and adjustment of on-going programmes to ensure that UNDP programmes are in line with national policies and priorities.Contribution to sub-regional, regional and inter-agency initiatives related to development/economic issues.Representation of UNDP in different working groups, including PRSP and MDGs.

Ensures effective management of the CO programme within the assigned thematic/sectoral areas focusing on quality control from formulation to implementation and monitoring of the country programme achieving the following results:

Effective application of RBM tools, establishment of management targets (BSC) and monitoring achievement of results.Design and formulation of CO programme within the area of responsibility, translating UNDP’s priorities into local interventions.Application of RMB and oversight of the programme implementation cycle. Introduction of performance indicators/ success criteria, cost recovery targets and milestones.Financial and substantive monitoring and evaluation of the projects, identification of operational and financial problems, development of solutions. Participation in audit of NEX projects.Preparation of reports and follow up on audit recommendations.

Ensures creation of strategic partnerships and implementation of the resource mobilization strategy in cooperation with the Management Support and Business Development Team   focusing on achievement of the following results:

Development of partnerships with the UN Agencies, IFI’s, government institutions, bi-lateral and multi-lateral donors, private sector, civil society in the specific thematic areas based on strategic goals of UNDP, country needs and donors’ priorities.Analysis and research of information on donors, preparation of substantive briefs on possible areas of cooperation, identification of opportunities for initiation of new projects, active contribution to the overall office effort in resource mobilization.

Cuso International is a non-profit development organization that works through volunteers. Each year, we send hundreds of global citizens to work on collaborative development projects in more than 20 countries in Africa, Asia, Latin America, and the Caribbean.
