Background and Objectives

The Regional AIDS Training Network (RATN) is an international non-profit organisation with operations in Eastern & Southern Africa (ESA) region. 

RATN represents a consortium of training institutions who collaborate on training activities related to STIs/HIV/AIDS in the region and whose mission is to strengthen the capacity of relevant individuals, organisations and other stakeholders to effectively respond to STIs/HIV/AIDS.  Currently RATN has 33 institutions that are full members spread across 11 countries in ESA region.

RATN is seeking for a fresh graduate student, to work in the Research, Monitoring and Evaluation unit.

Scope of Work – Monitoring & Evaluation Intern
 

To gain experience in how to work with M&E data, perform basic data analysis and how to review and produce reports for an International NGOReview M&E data and reports and prepare feedback on the data and reportsEnter all M&E data into spreadsheets and or databasesPrepare basic reports from the spreadsheets and databasesConduct alumni follow up and analyse alumni follow up data and produce reportsAny other duties that may be assignedBachelors Degree in Statistics, Public Health, Social Sciences or its equivalentExperienced in conducting statistical analysis using statistical software (SPSS preferable).Experienced in preparing and formatting graphs and tables using MS Office applications (Word, Excel & PowerPoint).Proficient in written communications.The ability to work independently and take initiative.Willingness to learn and collaborate with others.Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.Excellent oral and written English language skills.Experience living/working in a culturally diverse environment.(2) cover letter demonstrating qualification and interest for the position

World Wide Fund: Planning and Monitoring Coordinator

S/he will be responsible for a major part of the sub-region, more precisely; Central Africa Republic, Gabon, Congo, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Equatorial Guinea and Sao Tome and Principe.

Responsibilities:

Planning

Support the planning of programmes and contributing projects using the Programme Standards to ensure measurable goals and objectives are put in place with clear project-programme inter-linkages that allow roll up of results from projects and national programmes to the GI and regional level.

Monitoring

Lead the design and implementation of a monitoring system to track delivery against CARPO/GHoA goals and objectives as defined in the GI strategic plan and other relevant plans (e.g. national work plans)Ensure monitoring data (especially on impact) is incorporated into technical reports

Evaluation

Lead analysis of data collected under the monitoring framework for assessment of progress and identification of areas for improvementEnsures regular project and programme evaluations are conducted according to WWF standards, and participates in some evaluations and assesses delivery of national action plans

Reporting

Provide mid-term and annual technical progress reports on programme delivery, as per WWF standards, that provide CARPO management and WWF International with the information needed for adaptive managementPrepare technical briefing papers, and status updates for GI Shareholder Executive Team, GI Shareholder Group and CARPO Conservation Committee as requiredActs as a CARPO/GHoA focal point for the eventual implementation of Insight (the automated data management and reporting system)Monitor CARPO KPI (Key Performance Indicator) gathering and monitor progress of the annual plans for each functions

Learning

Supports transfer of knowledge between country and field programmesEnsure lessons from monitoring and reporting systems are used for adaptive managementCoordinate consultation and collaboration with key points of expertise over monitoring, data and science within and outside the region towards the delivery of key strategiesUndertake periodic review of the implementation and operation of the monitoring and reporting mechanism, including the preparation of best practices and lesson learnedAssess programme capacity and organise training as necessary for project/programme staff in relevant parts of the Programme StandardsContribute to the development of global results-based management systems and to ensure CARPO is following the latest Programme Standards best practices and is benefitting from network support and training opportunitiesCarrie out other duties as requested

Requirements:

University degree, at least MSc in Environmental Sciences, international development or a relevant combination of experienceMinimum of five years working experience in planning and/or monitoring and evaluation in an international organisationKnowledge and experience in applying the WWF Programme Standards, CMP Open Standards or an equivalentExperience of adaptive management and learning approachesPlanning and organising skills, strong analytical skills, accuracyExcellent interpersonal skills and good team spiritWillingness to participate in field activities/surveys and travel to remote areas within the regionExcellent knowledge and use of French and English languagesWorking knowledge of standard software, database and spreadsheets applicationsAdhere to WWF’s values, which are: passionate and optimistic, challenging and inspiring, credible and accountable, and persevering and delivering results

Reporting to the Deputy Director, the M&E Specialist has primary responsibility for the design and implementation of M&E systems and activities to measure overall project performance.

S/he will assist; project staff and partners in data collection, analysis, and presentation, including leading the design and operationalization of systems and tools. S/he will work closely with MOH counterparts and prepare regular reports for USAID.

S/he will also design and conduct operations research, and participate in project midterm and final evaluations, and oversee M&E staff.

Job Requirements

* A graduate degree in quantitative social science or its equivalent
* Minimum 5 years work experience in monitoring and evaluation in the health sector
* Applied skills in Monitoring and evaluation of development projects.
* Knowledgeable of challenges faced in Kenya in the areas of HIV/AIDS, RH/FP, MCH, OVC is preferred.
* Familiarity with M&E software, including the KePMS, and data management skills are essential for this role.
* Strong analytical and leadership skills

Service Delivery Specialist

Location: Mombasa

The Service Delivery Specialist will provide technical leadership within project area and lead implementation of national packages and guidelines for KEPH services at health facility level.

S/he will work in close coordination with Government, including MOH and NASCOP divisions to ensure activities are in line with national guidelines and policies.

The role will be responsible for providing strategic guidance to ensure delivery of technical support to MOH and support the strengthening of provincial and district health stakeholder forums.

S/he will supervise the Service Delivery Coordinators and Home and Community Support manager to ensure linkages of clinical and community services and lead in the preparation of quarterly/annual reports.

Job Requirements

* A graduate degree in medicine. Masters in public health will be an added advantage
* Minimum 5 years experience implementing Reproductive Health/family planning and or HIV service delivery programs
* Experience working with MOH personnel and good knowledge of health systems and programs
* Demonstrated collaborative approach with Government in providing mentorship and supervision for strengthening healthcare services and training in quality improvement approaches
* Excellent analytical skills and proven experience in establishing relevant project monitoring systems, assessment design and proposal development.
* Strong leadership skills and ability to build relationships, work well as part of a team and facilitate the achievement of results.

Data Officer

Location: Nairobi

Reporting to the Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist and working closely with the Data Manager the Data Officer is responsible for ensuring quality in collection, cleaning and entry of community and health facility data into the project databases, and collation of training reports.

S/he will participate in data analysis and presentation and provide support for data collection, analysis, dissemination, and use among project partners.

Job Requirements

* Diploma in Health Records or its equivalent
* Four years relevant work experience in an international NGO preferably in HIV/AIDS sector.
* Solid experience in data quality exercises and data entry.
* Training and capacity building skills.
* Ability to meet strict deadlines and work independently.
* Good working knowledge with Excel, SPSS, or other statistical programs or PEPFAR databases preferred
