Poverty Alleviation through Women Empowerment
Goodness and Mercy Missions
TASK
GMM finds that one of the best ways to combat rural poverty is by empowering women financially to the same. Groups of women have been formed and income generating schemes introduced that are benefitting their families in the areas of education, health and nutrition. Volunteers will write proposals where we can present to funding organizations who support women projects. They will also do research and provide us with potential donors.
Volunteers will work from February 2012 to April 2012. We shall furnish volunteers with all field information. Communication will be largely through email and sometimes by phone. Volunteers can work as a team or individually. They can either speak French or English.
Number of volunteers: 9BACKGROUND INFORMATION
GMM empowers women financially to fight off poverty. We have already funded 16 women groups who are doing small businesses, generating income and helping their children in school coupled with several other benefits. Some of them sell palm oil, others make traditional dresses, while still others sell soap and other little articles.
